Here is a record of all known guildmasters and housemasters of the Ankh-Morpork Assassins' Guild, past and present. Votes of no confidence have been included. The related guilds of other nations have not been included, as this would be a full-time job; however, should anyone wish to start collating election information for those guilds, please feel free to contact me about past election results.
The information has largely been taken from the archives of the assassinsguild board, and from my own records. It may be incomplete or inaccurate, and corrections are welcomed.
The current election system used to appoint guild officials was not introduced until 1998. Before this, masters were creator-appointed according to their position on the guild's top ten table, with the top assassin being the guildmaster, and the second, third and fourth masters of the three houses there then were. As the introduction of the election system approached, a few masters were appointed following straw polls conducted on the assassinsguild board. Although there was some discussion of introducing a system where officials were appointed by inhuming their predecessors, this never appears to have happened.
Black Widow, Raven and Tree Frog houses were introduced in 2002, and I believe that the information for these houses is fully complete. All information for those masters appointed by the election system should also be correct; on the tables, they are separated from those appointed directly. The earlier information is liable to be inaccurate; if you can correct it, please do.
The no confidence system developed over time, and at first it did not publish either the names of those requesting the vote, or their reasons. As time passed, it began to publish first the reasons, then the names of those responsible. As such, information is unavailable on many of the early votes. Where people have stated their reasons on the boards, the information has been added to the table.
